Article I General Principles
1. The Alumni Union of Harbin Institute of Technology is named as HIT Alumni Union (HITAU). The location of HITAU: Harbin Institute of Technology
2.The HITAU is a charity organization as a sodality for schoolfellows of HIT.
3.The purpose of HITAU: to uphold the good tradition of HIT, to carry out the policy that education should be geared to the needs of modernization, of the world and of the future, to develop our course by using sensation as a tie, communication as a foundation, and activities as a instrument, to enhance the communication between HIT and the schoolfellows, to exchange the experiences and information, to strengthen the corporation, and to build up a new prospect that the HIT cares for the schoolfellows, the schoolfellows cares their school and they support each other and develop together. To serve the alumni better and to work for the University's version of a global knowledge enterprise, and to serve the reunification and prosperity of the motherland.
4.HITAU accept the supervises and direction of Commission of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defence of the People's Republic of China, Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Civil Affairs.
Article II Mission
5.To publicize the style of study and the good tradition of HIT, and to unite the alumni to enhance interaction and better the relationship between alumni, staff and the HIT. To organize numerous events and functions which would support the career of the alumni who are in active service, and would promote the retired ones in the fields of education, technical development, information and other charitable work.To promote the alumni to care for the developing of the University. To provide guidance to group members all over the country to carry out viable activities. To serve the alumni, to work for the University's version of a global knowledge enterprise, and to serve the reunification and prosperity of the motherland.
Article III Membership
6. Anyone who meets one of the requirements is alumni of HIT.

All the students who study here, the graduates here, the trainees here and the oversea students here in Harbin Institute of Technology and Harbin University of Architecture and Engineering.
- The staff now in HIT or the staff ever worked here.
- The visiting Professor , part-time professor, consultant professor , emeritus professor and other part-time stuff of Harbin Institute of Technology and Harbin University of Architecture and Engineering.
7.The alumni of HIT who get in touch with the general association or the branches association of HITAU, pilling in the application and observe the consultation can be members of HITAU.
8.Member shall enjoy the following rights:
- Right to elect to be elected and to vote.
- Right to participate in all the activities of the HITAU.
- Right to make suggestions and offer criticisms to the work of the University.
- Right to get the magazines related with HITAU.
9.Obligations of members.
- Observe the HITAU's consultation.
- Take part in the activities and fulfill the tasks of HITAU.
- Care for the development of the University and promote the interaction inside and oversea.
- Contribute and provide relevant documentation for magazines of HITAU actively.
10.Written application should be submitted to the general association or the branches if any member decides to abandon their membership.
11. If the members seriously violate the provisions of the constitution the people are to be removed from the membership list by the Executive Council
Article IV Organization
12. HITAU sets up the Executive Council which includes several members. The Executive Meeting should be held once at least one year. Temporary can be decided to be held by the President.
13. The members of the Executive Council should be elected through consultation of the members of the branch of the general association. The members serve a five-year term and can be reappointed.
14. To strengthen the communication with the alumni oversea, HITAU sets up membership of Executive Council that in charging of Communication who can be occupied by the President of the oversea branch or appointed by him.
15. HITAU also invites and gives the awards of several Honorary members who will be appointed from the former members of the Executive Council over 70 years old, or the alumni with special contribution.
16. Responsibilities of the Executive Council:
- Work on behalf of HITAU
- Elect the President and Vice Presidents to the Executive Council, consult and assign the membership of the next term.
- Discuss and determine both the working guidelines and other important things of the general association.
- To formulate and amend the regulation of the association.
17. HITAU has one President, several Vice Presidents and one Honorary President if necessary. The President can be occupied by the President of HIT. The President presides over the Executive Council and the Vice Presidents will by appointed be the President or elected by the members of the Executive Council.
18. HITAU has one Chief Secretary, several Vice Chief Secretaries that make up of the General Secretarial. The General Secretarial is responsible to the President of the Executive Council. And one of the Vice Presidents will currently be the Chief Secretary
19. The qualifications of the President, Vice Presidents, Chief Secretary and Vice Chief secretary:
- To uphold the theory and policy of the Communist Party
- The President and the Vice President should be under 70 years old.
- To be in good health and able to work well
20. HITAU sets up a Standing Office and the head of the Standing Office is usually occupied by one the Vice Chief Secretary. Responsibilities of the Standing Office:
- To implement and carry the decisions of made by The Executive Council.
- Responsible for the daily work of HITAU.
- In charge of receiving the alumni home and abroad who come bank for giving lectures or visiting etc..
- Edit Address Book of HIT Alumni and other publications related with the HITAU and the University.
- Responsible for sending out and processing information and the maintenance of the website.
21. The alumni can set up Branch-associations of some place or some enterprise on behalf of free will, which can be named as '------- Alumni Association of HITAU'. According to actual situation, the alumni can organize all kinds of events and functions to better the better the interaction and relationship between alumni and the University. The HITAU may keep close touch with the Branch Associations but the branches are not affiliated to HITAU.
Article V Principle of the management and usage of assets
22. The source of funds is aids from the University, membership dues and donations from enterprises.
23. Any funds of HITAU must be used in the fields regulated by this contribution.
24. HITAU has a strict financial management system to ensure that the accounting is legal, factual, accurate and complete.
25. The management of the Association's assets must comply with the financial managements rules regulated by the government, and receive the supervision of financial department of the government.
Article VI Amendment and Termination
26. The assets from the donations from society must be under the supervision of the auditing department.
27. Any entity and individual cannot seize the asset of HITAU, use it for private purposes or move it for other use.
28. Revision of the constitution must be passed by the Executive Council.
29. When encountering irresistible force that the association must be terminate, the proposal is to be passed by the Executive council and the President should sign the paper related.
Article VII Additional Article
30. Revision of the constitution must be reviewed and certified by the Ministry of Civil Affair.
31. The Right of explanation of the constitution belongs to Executive Council of HITAU.
