On the verge of the first “National Science and Technology Workers’ day”, the award ceremony of the first “National Innovation Contending Award” was held in Beijing. One team and four teachers of HIT were on the award list. In which, the team of “Technology Innovation in Composite Material Under Special Environment” won the award ( a medal ),while Ren Nanqi, Cao Xibin, Liu Hong and Wang Fei won certificates of merit.
To further implement the important spirit of the speech given by the general secretary, Xi Jinping, at the National Science and Technology Innovation Conference, Academicians of the General Assembly and the Ninth National Congress of the China Association for Science and Technology, to further unite and guide scientific and technical workers to make innovations in the process of building a worldwide powerful nation of science and technology, Ministry of Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, China Association for Science and Technology, Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) and State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council jointly established the “National Innovation Contending Award” after ratification of the Central Committee of CPC. This Award was aimed to commend and reward the teams and individuals who have outstanding performance in science and technology. There are altogether ten teams that were awarded the “National Innovation Contending Award Medal”, 28 individuals who were awarded “National Innovation Contending Award Badge”, 254 individuals who were awarded “National Innovation Contending Award Certificate of Merit”.
The team of “Technology Innovation in Composite Material Under Special Environment” coheres and cultivates a research team which has worldwide popularity and influence, as well as high innovation capability. The team was respectively selected to National Natural Sciences Foundation Innovation Group, Defense Technology Innovation Team, Ministry of Education Innovation Team and Ministry of Science and Technology innovation team in major fields. It has obtained many scientific and technological innovation achievements in aerospace and other fields, and has tackled key scientific and technological issues in thermal protection materials, light weight structure, special photoelectric functional materials and intelligent materials. The team has achieved eight national scientific and technological awards, won the glories of “National Professional and Technical Personnel Advanced Collective” and “National Pioneer Worker”, and also was awarded MOST International Joint Research Center at the national level.
Ren Nanqi, an academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, the chairman of committee of Sponge City Construction Technical Guidance Committee of Experts under the guidance of Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, a member of International Water Association (IWA), and the vice-president of HIT, is devoted to theoretical research and technology application of reclaimed water reuse and other fields, such as the treatment of high-concentrated industrial wastewater, toxic environmental risks and ecological security, urban industry and landscape ecology. He put forward the idea of constructing a sponge city which is suitable for China. He was awarded two second class prizes of the National Prize for Progress in Science and Technology, one second class prize of National Award for Technological Innovation and a number of science and technological awards at the provincial level.
Cao Xibin, Cheung Kong Scholar Chair Professor, is the leading personnel of thenational “Ten Thousand Talents Program” in science and technology, a principal technician of national defense “973”, principal assistant, and the president of School of Astronautics. He has long engaged in the study of spacecraft, and he is also the major pioneer in the field of responsive space lift and mini-satellite. He put forward and took charge of “Kuaizhou” which is the first satellite-rocket space aircraft around the world and “Shiyan I” and other satellites. He was awarded one second class prize of National Prize for Progress in Science and Technology, two second class prizes of National Award for Technological Innovation, and the research achievements were selected into the “Top 10 Technological Advances in Chinese Universities” three times.
Liu Jiang, Cheung Kong Scholar Chair Professor, is a distinguished expert of the Organization Department of the Central Committee of the CPC “Ten Thousand Talents Program”, principal assistant, and the president of School of Mechanical Engineering. He has long engaged in theoretical and technological research of space robot, and the arm-and-hand system was successfully applied to the space laboratory of “Tiangong-2” which was developed under his guidance. He was awarded threesecond class prize of National Award for Technological Innovation, one first class prize of Technology and Transformation of EU Robots, one prize of Top 10 Technological Advances in Chinese Universities. The “China-German Space Robot Technology Joint Laboratory” which built by him was designated as the “Space Robot International Cooperation Base” by MOST in 2016.
Wang Fei, is a top-notch personnel of the Organization Department of the Central Committee of the CPC “Ten Thousand Talents Program”, the president of HIT Robot Group, and a professor of School of Mechanical Engineering. He took the lead to establish the first intelligent traditional Chinese medicine equipment industry-academia-research linkage platform, which was formed by the HIT Center for Precision Engineering, Heilongjiang Intelligent Traditional Chinese Medicine Equipment Engineering Technology Center, and Zhangjiagang Pharmaceutical Technology Co., LTD. In 2014, the HIT Robot Group was organized by the provincial and municipal government and the university, which formed a platform of robot innovation and entrepreneurship featuring the coordination of technology and capital. The business volume of the Group broke through 0.6 billion yuan at the end of 2016.
