As the centennial of Harbin Institute of Technology approaches, the All-Media Center has jointly launched the micro-video series "100 Years and 100 Seconds Harbin Institute of Technology" with relevant colleges in order to summarize the development process, subject characteristics, and achievements in various fields. The first video portrays the history and accomplishments of the College of Astronautics.
The College of Astronautics of Harbin Institute of Technology has always served the country's major needs and closely linked its own development with the future and destiny of the nation.
In June 1987, with the approval of the State Ministry of Aerospace Industry, Harbin Institute of Technology established China's first institute focused on training senior aerospace professionals and engaging in aerospace high-tech research—the HIT College of Astronautics. At present, the college has 5 first-class disciplines and 13 departments and research institutes (centers). It is the largest aerospace college with the largest number of backbone disciplines in China.
After more than 30 years of development, with the joint efforts of all kinds of talents, the College of Astronautics has produced many "pioneers" and "firsts" in our country:
◆ The first set of space rendezvous and docking ground simulation system in China has been developed.
◆ The first high-precision dual-axis gyro drift test bench for space use in China has been developed.
◆ Launched the first transmission-type stereo surveying and mapping small satellite "Test 1" independently developed by a Chinese university.
◆ The first international satellite-arrow integration technology was put forward, and the "Fast Boat 1" and "Fast Boat 2" satellite-arrow integration aircrafts were developed.
◆ The first set of satellite optical communication on-board terminals in China has been developed, and the first international high-orbit satellite-to-ground high-speed laser two-way communication test has been carried out.
◆ Launched China's first nano-satellite "Syringa 2" independently designed, developed and controlled by college students.
◆ The world's first microsatellite "Longjiang 2" has been developed to independently complete the earth-moon transfer, near-moon braking and circumlunar flight.
The Institute of Astronautics has reached the leading level in China and the first-class level in the world in many fields such as advanced composite technology and satellite optical communication.
For more than 30 years, the college has organized teachers and students to overcome many major problems related to key technologies in national defense science and technology. A large number of typical teachers and students, represented by Academician Ma Zuguang, a model of senior intellectuals in the new era, have emerged. It gave birth to Ma Zuguang's spirit, Wang Duo's spirit and Harbin Institute of Technology's small satellite spirit with "patriotic struggle" as their common attribute, formed the cultural tradition of the Institute of Astronautics with "responsibility, enterprising and dedication" as its main characteristics, shaped the common value pursuit of teachers and students, and led groups of young students to devote themselves to the cause of aerospace and national defense one after another.
With the direction of meeting the country's major needs, the motivation of the development of key technologies, the combination of scientific research and technological assets, and the initiative to undertake high-tech projects, the Institute of Astronautics has formed distinctive features and unique advantages, and has become an important force to promote the progress of China's space industry. In the past five years, it has won 9 National Science and Technology Awards, including 1 First Prize, 3 Second Prize and 5 Second Prize of National Natural Science Award. 168 projects were approved by the National Natural Science Foundation, including 3 major projects and 9 key projects. Two national major scientific instruments and equipment development projects have been approved.
The Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics has always adhered to the initial intention of educating people for the Party, kept in mind the mission of educating talents for the country, fully implemented the Party's educational policy, strictly enforced the high standard of teachers' ethics, implemented the fundamental task of cultivating morality and cultivating people, ran ideological and political work through the whole process of education and teaching, and fully trained new space talents with the scientific, realistic, rigorous, pragmatic and solid style of work.
Through the continuous struggle of several generations of scholars, the college has accumulated rich academic details and formed a "master + team" characteristic model. The high-level teaching team, represented by academicians of both houses, national teaching masters, Yangtze River scholars, winners of the National Outstanding Youth Fund and 973 chief scientists, has set up a platform for students to pursue their dreams and realize their ideals.
