Recently, China Institute of Higher Education officially released the evaluation results of the 2014-2018 China Universities Innovative Talent Training and Discipline Competition in Hangzhou. Harbin Institute of Technology won 403 awards with a total score of 99.14 points, ranking the top of the national colleges and universities.
Launched in February 2017, the "Research on Competition Evaluation and Management System in Colleges and Universities" project is the first ranking that focuses on the cultivation of innovative talents and the achievement of disciplinary competition in China, which follows the principles of fairness, justice, openness, guidance, operability, classification, and results-orientation by evaluating from the two contributive aspects of competition and organization. There are four dimensions in competition contribution, which include "Competition Level", "Competition Form", "Competition History", and "Competition Awards". Organizational contribution covers four dimensions, that is, "Competition Secretariat", "Competition Organizing Unit", "Excellent Organizational Unit" and "Excellent Instructor". This assessment has attracted the attention of many domestic colleges and universities because it can comprehensively reflect the innovative practical ability and training level of undergraduates.
In recent years, Harbin Institute of Technology has continuously increased funding for disciplinary competitions through the establishment and continuous improvement of innovation and entrepreneurship credits, competition for postgraduate recommendation, the selection of excellent innovative and entrepreneurial instructors, and other measures to encourage teachers and students to participate in the practice of competition to promote teaching, learning, and creativity. Since the launch of the project, a total of three disciplinary competition evaluation results have been published, the ranking of Harbin Institute of Technology continues to improve, and significant progress has been made.
In 2018, Harbin Institute of Technology students showed their elegant demeanor in the China "Internet +" College Students Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, the ACM International College Student Programming Competition, the United States University Mathematical Modeling Competition, the National College Student Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction Social Practice and Science and Technology Competition, and dozens of other major international and domestic competitions.

Harbin Institute of Technology attaches great importance to innovation and entrepreneurship education, insists on the discipline competition as the starting point, strives to enhance students' awareness and ability to create, and from the base, curriculum, teachers, funding and other aspects seeks to actively create a platform and conditions for students to create. Up to now, 21 practice bases of innovation and entrepreneurship education for college students have been built, and more than 600 courses of innovation and entrepreneurship have been offered, including three kinds of characteristic innovation courses, that is, innovation study, innovation experiment, and freshman discussion; four types of innovation and entrepreneurship guidance courses are included, such as innovation guidance, entrepreneurship guidance, competition guidance, and team building.
The school also attaches great importance to the construction of innovative and entrepreneurial education teachers. Harbin Institute of Technology has selected four batches of 56 excellent instructors of innovative and entrepreneurial education activities (once every two years), and combined with Teachers' Day or "Teaching Day" for grand recognition since 2011. In recent years, school teachers have devoted themselves to innovation and entrepreneurship communication and public welfare service, and actively served as members of the Steering Committee of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education of the Ministry of Education, the Academic Committee of China University Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Center, specially invited experts, and experts of the National University Students' Innovation and Entrepreneurship Practice Alliance and the National Innovation and Entrepreneurship Program. 7 people were rated as advanced individuals in entrepreneurship education in colleges and universities. Twenty-five people were selected into the Ministry of Education's "National Talent Pool of Ten Thousand Excellent Innovative and Entrepreneurial Tutors". The school has a large number of teachers to consciously invest in innovation and entrepreneurship education and spontaneously set up a combination of specialized courses and training camps to stimulate the students' innovative vitality, all of which creates a strong atmosphere of innovation and entrepreneurship.
