Harbin Institute of Technology Held a Series of Activities with Pacific National University

Jointly planting evergreen trees symbolizing the long-lasting friendship, holding a joint cultural show, participating in youth volunteer camps...From March 15 to 18, a series of activities was held to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Russia and the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the inter-school friendship and cooperation relationship between Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) and Pacific National University.

On the morning of March 16, Lalin, Vice Consul of the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Shenyang, Sergei Ivanchenko, President of the Pacific National University, WANG Shuyun, Deputy Director of the Heilongjiang Provincial Education Department, LIU Qinghua, Vice Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of Heilongjiang Provincial People's Government and GUO Bin, Vice President of HIT, attended the planting ceremony. Under the witness of teachers and students from the two schools, Chinese and Russian guests planted trees together—the evergreen spruce, symbolizing the long-lasting and evergreen friendship between them and even between China and Russia.

After the tree planting activities, teachers and students from China and Russia participated in the “2019 Flowers of Memory” International Volunteer Camp of ASRTU Youths. A series of activities was held, including the sweeping ceremony at the Memorial to the Red Army Martyrs of the Soviet Union and a visit to the Northeast Anti-Japanese Federation Museum. Through these activities, the young people of the two countries reviewed the history of the Anti-Fascist War and remembered the revolutionary martyrs. In this way, they could pass down the great cause of friendship between China and Russia from generation to generation.

On the evening of March 17, after intense dress rehearsals and a brief running, the ARSTU China-Russia Youth cultural show opened. Sergei Ivanchenko, President of Pacific National University, and AN Shi, Vice President of our university, attended and addressed the show. The Sports and Ball Dance Troupe of Pacific National University named “Protagonist” and the national dance troupe named “Play” joined hands with the folk music band, dance team, vocal team, and symphony orchestra of the HIT art troupe to provide a spectacular audio-visual feast for an audience of nearly 500.

During the activities, young people of the two countries also learned from each other, helped each other, and shared love and friendship through activities such as "Ice Breaking Action" and "Discovering China", a traditional culture experience course.
