Exploration of the vast space will never end. In order to celebrate the fourth “Space Day of China”, carry forward the profound spirit of aerospace exploration, and tap into the essence of "HIT and China Aerospace”, HIT launched a series of activities with the theme of “win-win cooperation in pursuing aerospace dreams”.
On the morning of April 24, a flag-raising ceremony was held in the electrical building square of HIT. WANG Shuquan, secretary of the HIT Party Committee, REN Nanqi, DING Xuemei, AN Shi, XU Dianguo, and XU Xiaofei, vice presidents of HIT, CAI Jujin, secretary of the Commission for Discipline Inspection, and PENG Yuankui, assistant to the president, attended the ceremony.

Professor ZHOU Bin, winner of the National Excellent Youth Fund, introduced his personal growth experience and achievements in devoting himself to aerospace research and expressed his determination to continue contributing wisdom and strength to the national aerospace cause as an aerospace researcher by adhering to the original intention of serving the country in aerospace and making use of the abundant resources at HIT.
In his speech, AN Shi pointed out that HIT has interpreted the striving footsteps keeping pace with the national aerospace industry as its own school-running practice. In the face of General Secretary XI Jinping's earnest instructions and the mission of building a powerful nation in the new era, all the faculty and students in HIT should always maintain enthusiasm in study, always harbor the spirit of struggle, and always cherish every moment to strive for new breakthroughs, so as to demonstrate the great achievements to the CPC Central Committee and the whole country. AN Shi put forward his expectation that all HIT young people should carry forward that great creative spirit, the great striving spirit, the great solidarity spirit, as well as the great dream spirit, and become the bearers of the dream of making China a powerful country in the new era, the pioneer of independent innovation, the practitioner of rejuvenating China through hard work, and the promoter of common development.
Under the oath of President ZHU Rongkuan of the Student Union, all the young students made a solemn oath.
"It's great to work with Chinese classmates in designing, making, and experiencing flying model planes!" More than 70 Chinese and foreign students from South Korea, Malaysia, and Pakistan took part in the second Model Plane Design and Manufacturing Challenge Competition on April 24. More than 20 works were judged by their production quality, design, and flight time.
Around the “Space Day of China” on April 24, HIT organized colorful celebration activities. At noon on April 21, the Space Day carnival was held simultaneously in two Campuses of HIT. More than 30 interesting games were organized, which attracted the participation of numerous teachers and students, including Questions and Answers on Aerospace Knowledge, Aerospace Knowledge Introduction Platform, Aerospace Word Games, Virtual Model Plane Making, and Memory Competition.
What was Jupiter called in ancient China? What is the age of the moon? Who was the first woman to walk in space? On the evening of April 21, the "Sailing Cup" Aerospace Science Popularization Knowledge Competition attracted 16 teams from the whole university to "compete" for the championship with questions covering many aspects, such as the history of aerospace development, satellite and rocket science popularization knowledge, common sense of the universe, and HIT and China Aerospace.
Activities such as lectures on popular science and introducing aerospace knowledge to all people of HIT have also attracted extensive attention of HIT teachers and students. The HIT main campus and its two other campuses (Weihai Campus and Shenzhen Campus) all organized relevant activities in celebration of the “Space Day of China” respectively.
