Kreukov Sergei Vladimirovich, executive chairman of the Russian College Basketball Association, Nina Besjeleva, deputy director of the Moscow Sports Bureau, Yevgeny dean of the School of Physical Education of Ural Federal University, Jiang Guowen, chairman of the Harbin Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and An Shi, vice president of our university, attended the meeting. In order to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Russia, implement the spirit of the 2019 Sino-Russian Year of Local Cooperation and Exchange, and enhance exchanges between Chinese and Russian youth, the China-Russia Young Men's Basketball Friendly Tournament was held. The theme of the tournament was "Celebrating the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Russia, building a platform for Sino-Russian youth exchange through sports". It was sponsored by the Harbin Municipal People 's Government, Harbin Institute of Technology, the Harbin Municipal Bureau of Sports, the Harbin Municipal People's Government Foreign Affairs Office, the Russian College Basketball Association, the Harbin Basketball Association, the Harbin Foreign Sports Exchange and Cooperation Association, and the China-Russia University of Technology League while the competition was also supported by the Heilongjiang University Sports Association, the St. Petersburg State University representative office in Harbin Institute of Technology, and other organizations. The men's basketball team of St. Petersburg National University, the men's basketball team of Ural Federal University, the men's basketball team of Zhejiang University, and the men's basketball team of Harbin Institute of Technology competed in the tournament.
Zhao Zhubo, director of Harbin Municipal Sports Bureau, presided over the opening ceremony. At the opening ceremony, a performing team composed of robots from the HuaYi Dance School and Harbin Institute of Technology presented a wonderful dance performance. Sergei Belov, Jr., son of the archetypal legend Sergei Belov, and Alexander Riyapolov, the creator of The Death of Munich, came to the scene to interact with the audience and talk about the charm of basketball, hoping for fruitful sports cooperation and cultural exchanges between China and Russia. Miao Lijie, head coach of the Chinese youth women's basketball team, and Zhang Hong, champion of the women's 1000-meter speed skating event at the Sochi Winter Olympics and member of the IOC Athletes' Commission, also attended the ceremony.
In the four brilliant games, the four teams did their best, struggling hard, dribbling quickly, blocking shots vigorously, shooting from a distance, driving to the hoop, and other wonderful moments, igniting the passion of the audience so that everyone shouted in excitement, clapped, and cheered "one after another." During the matches against the men's basketball team of St. Petersburg National University and the men's basketball team of Ural Federal University, the HIT players were energetic and enterprising, cooperated closely, used various tactics flexibly, reduced mistakes, and finally achieved one victory and one defeat.
The Foreign Affairs Office of Harbin Municipal People's Government, the Sports Committee of Zhejiang University, the head of Harbin Urban Construction Investment Group Co., Ltd., the heads of relevant units of the Harbin Municipal People's Government, a portion of teachers and students, as well as people who love basketball participated in the opening ceremony and watched the game.
