Harbin Institute of Technology News (Liu Peixiang / Text Xinran / Photos) On September 25th, the 2019 Harbin International Medical Worker Intersection Summit was held in the HIT activity center, room 301 with the theme of Stem Cell Simulation Preparation and Clinical Application. More than 100 experts, scholars, and industry representatives from home and abroad attended the conference, with a focus on upgrading the stem cell industry and boosting the industrialization of Heilongjiang’s cell therapy.

Zhao Min, chairman of the Association of Science and Technology of Heilongjiang Province, attended the meeting. Liu Hong, vice president of HIT, Sun Changyu, vice president of Harbin Medical University, Zhen Changyu, member of the Standing Committee of the Songbei District Committee of Harbin New District, and Liu Fu, vice chairman of the Provincial Association of Science and Technology, delivered speeches at the opening ceremony.

In his speech, Liu Hong introduced the new scientific research model of the intersection between medicine and industry, with the collaborative innovation of production, education, and research in recent years. He said HIT would continue the interdisciplinary development of medicine and industry and the training of high-end talents, while fully highlighting the advantages and features of Harbin Institute of Technology, further optimizing the discipline layout and development plan, and strengthening interdisciplinary integration, in order to make the intersection of medicine and industry a powerful engine of the Double First-class construction of Harbin Institute of Technology, to promote the development of China's health industry, and to achieve the goal of a healthy China.

Thomas C. Südhof, who won the Nobel Prize in Physiology and Medicine, Guo Yinglu, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Joe Y. Chang, m ember of the American Society of Radiation Oncology, Sendurai A. Mani, director of MD Anderson Cancer Center for Stem Cell and Developmental Biology, Gao Huijun, director of the Intersection Science Research Center of HIT, and many other domestic and foreign senior scholars and industry experts gave special speeches focusing on stem cells and the intersection of regenerative medical technology and high-end manufacturing engineering technology, to explore innovative theories and solutions for stem cells and immunotherapy.

The summit was co-sponsored by HIT, Harbin Medical University, and Heilongjiang Science and Technology Association. It aimed to build an international open innovation and cooperation platform, to organically integrate international technical resources, capital, and industrial factors, to strengthen the deep transformation of the results of production, education, and research in medicine, to introduce advanced technology projects and talents in the global biomedical field to Harbin, to promote the cooperation and exchange of the Heilongjiang Free Trade Zone, and to lead the industrial transformation and innovation development of the international intersection of cutting-edge medicine and industry.

Before the summit, Liu Hong met with the leaders and experts.

Directors of the Municipal Science and Technology Bureau, the Municipal Science and Technology Association, and the Harbin New District, as well as FU Qiang, dean of the Industrial Technology Research Institute of Heilongjiang Province and the Science and Technology Institute of HIT, attended the summit.
