Harbin Institute of Technology News (School of International Studies Text/Photograph) Recently, the 18th Biennial Conference of Association for Canadian Studies in China and China-Canada International Symposium hosted by the Association for Canadian Studies in China and organized by Canada Research Institute of HIT were held at Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT). More than 50 representatives from more than 20 universities across the country participated in the activity.

At the opening ceremony, Liu Hong, vice president of HIT, Du Fachun, president of the Association for Canadian Studies in China, Lv Mingrui, public diplomacy counsellor of Canadian Embassy in China, and Fu Li, director of Canadian Research Institute delivered speeches respectively. In addition, Monroe Igor, president of International Canadian Research Council delivered video speeches to congratulate the conference.

During the conference, experts and scholars from Harbin Institute of Technology, Peking University, Beijing Foreign Studies University, Nankai University, Beijing Institute of Technology, Dalian University of Technology and China Youth Press made keynote reports. Participants held discussions and exchanges on Canadian education, economy, agriculture and Sino Canadian relations, Canadian politics, culture, translation, literature, and other topics.

Relevant personnel of HIT and Canadian Embassy in China attended the opening ceremony.
