A few days ago, the 13th National Structure Design Contest for College Students ended in Xi'an. Under the guidance of SHAO Yongsong and LU Shanshan, our school team, the HIT Civil Engineering Elite Team, won the first prize, which is the fourth consecutive first prize HIT has won in this contest. The team was composed of 3 third year undergraduates: Ma Jinji, Tang Ning and Liang Yibang.
The subject of the contest is “Design and manufacture of a power transmission tower model in a mountainous region”. There were 111 teams from 110 colleges that reached the finals. After four days of fierce competition in design solutions, model making, model loading and so on, HIT’s work named “DAWN” stood out. It is known that the National Structure Design Contest for College Students is the most influential scientific and technological innovation event for college students majoring in civil engineering in China. It is also the highest-level competition for the civil engineering discipline amongst domestic colleges and universities. Moreover, the contest is praised as “the brightest pearl on the crown of civil engineering”.
