From October 11th to 13th, the 6th Biennual Conference of the National Association for the Study of Literature in English, China Association of Foreign Literature, was held at HIT. More than 150 delegates from 73 universities and research institutes across the country attended the conference.
At the opening ceremony, HOU Yujie, assistant to the president of HIT, ZHANG Jian, president of the National Association for the Study of Literature in English, China Association of Foreign Literature, and LIU Kedong, dean of the School of International Studies of HIT, delivered speeches respectively. Experts and scholars from HIT, Peking University, Shanghai International Studies University, Beijing Foreign Studies University, Shandong University, Nanjing University, Shanghai Normal University, Hangzhou Dianzi University, Beijing Normal University, Fudan University, and the University of Oklahoma made speeches at the conference. During the conference, experts, scholars and students were divided into 19 groups to discuss and exchange views on 10 topics, including the study of literariness and literary boundary, the rewriting and film adaptation of literary classics, comparative literature and cross-cultural studies, the study of English translation and reception of classical literature, the construction of English literature and national character, literary ethical criticism, and narrative studies.
