Recently, Harbin Institute of Technology Newspaper (edited by Ji Xuan ) reported that Professor Qin Bing and Professor Yao Hongxun from the School of Computer Science of our university were includedthe recently released list of “Women in AI”[LM1] . There are total 179 female scholars in the global list of women in AI, including 12 Chinese female scientists.
Qin Bing, a professor and doctoral supervisor of the School of Computer Science, is also the deputy director of the Social Computing and Information Retrieval Center. Her research fields mainly focus on natural language processing, knowledge mapping, discourse understanding and generation, and emotional computing, etc. She served as the director of the Chinese Information Institute in China as well as deputy director of the special committee of Language and Knowledge Computing in that institute. She presided over a number of key R & D projects of the National Natural Science Foundation and the Ministry of Science and Technology of China. In addition, she has won the first and second prizes of the science and technology award of Heilongjiang Province, and she has published and delivered more than 100 academic papers in important journals and top international conferences at home and abroad.
Yao Hongxun is also [LM2] a professor and doctoral supervisor of the School of Computer Science. Her main research fields are computer vision intelligence, multimedia data analysis and understanding, video surveillance, and pattern recognition. She was selected as an "outstanding talent in the new century" of the education department. Professor Yao was also the expert of special government allowance of Heilongjiang province. At the same time, she has served as the executive director of theChinese Society of Image and Graphics.She has published and delivered more than 200 academic papers in international journals of high impact factors and top international conferences. Professor Yao has presided over the Key Project of theNatural Science Foundation of China and participated in the national projects "863" and "973”. She has won the second prize of theHeilongjiang Provincial Science and Technology award twice, as well as two teaching achievement awards in Heilongjiang Province.
This list is jointly released by Tsinghua University - Knowledge Intelligence Joint Research Center of theChinese Academy of Engineering, Tsinghua University Artificial Intelligence Research Institute, and Beijing Zhiyuan Artificial Intelligence Research Institute. It aims to select the most influential and dynamic female scholars in the field of artificial intelligence in the world, through the academic data of AMiner (Sci-tech information big data mining and service system platform). Based on the 2000 most influential AI scholars in the world (AI 2000) released in January 2020, 179 most influential women scholars in the field of AI were selected, accounting for 9% of the 2000 scholars.
