Recently, the new liquid material of matrine coconut oil acidsion developed by Professor Zhang Jiaheng’s research group from Materials Science and Engineering department of HIT (Shenzhen) has been prepared into disinfection products and put into the front-line epidemic prevention, providing a mild “protective film” for the hands of medical staff, so that they are free from the “alcohol hand” problem.
Due to the frequent use of high concentration alcohol disinfectant spray and alcohol gel hand washing liquid, many medical staffs have “alcohol hand”problem, such as dryness, skin rash, dry crack and even allergy. “Our medical staff are racing against the virus and time. In the report aboutepidemic,pairs of ‘alcohol hands’ are admirable while heartbreaking.” After learning about “alcohol hand”, Mr. Zhang “couldn’t sit still”. He thought thatthe new liquid material of matrine coconut oil acidsion developed by the research group might be able to repair “alcohol hand”, so he took actionimmediately.
On January 28, on the fourth day of the lunar new year, Mr. Zhang discussed with the research group about the possibility of developing disinfection products. At the same time, he came to understand the demand for disinfection products in Guangdong Province, Shenzhen and key areas of epidemic prevention and control. He contacted the cooperative enterprises to produce liquid material of matrine coconut oil acidsion in quantity, so as to make disinfection products with the efficacy of disinfection, bacteriostatic, skin care and moisturizing.
“At present, the production and use of new materials are not allowed carelessness.”Jiaheng Zhang said that the new liquid material of matrine coconut oil acidsion can be put into production quickly and put into the front-line epidemic prevention work, which benefits from the long-term solid research foundation of the research group. “The new material is a liquid ionic compound at room temperature, which takes matrine as the cationic precursor and coconut oil fatty acid as the anionic precursor. Matrine, which has anti-virus, anti-tumor and anti allergy effects, and coconut oleic acid, which has anti-bacterial and moisturizing effects, are combined together. The disinfection and bacteriostatic products developed with Matrine as raw materials have also successfully passed the microbial challenge test.”
On February 5, the first batch of disinfection products developed by the research group were officially donated to the Fifth Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-Sen University in Zhuhai City, Guangdong Province. Up to now, Mr. Zhang and the cooperative enterprise have donated more than 1 million disinfection of bacteriostatic ionic liquid products and 2000 kg of disinfection raw material liquid to Tongji Hospital Affiliated to Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Central War Zone General Hospital (Hankou hospital zone), Yuedong Hospital Affiliated to the Third Hospital of Sun Yat-SenUniversity, The Fifth Hospital Affiliated to Sun Yat-SenUniversity, Taoyuan Street Office of Shenzhen, Red Cross Society of Shaoguan, village committee of Shijing village of Heyuan, management committee of Zhuhai high tech Zone and other units.All units have expressed the gratitude to them.
It is reported that based on the recommendations of front-line medical staff in key areas such as Wuhan, Zhang Jiaheng research group developed and synthesized raw materials such as matrine gallicacid ion salts and glycyrrhizic acid ion salts, which possess the potential to fight againstnovel coronavirus pneumonia. These new compounds have sent to the hospital to carry on the research and disinfectiontexts. If they can pass the examinations, these new compounds will be used in clinical treatment research.
