School of Continuing Education, Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT), was founded in 1999. It is a unique school engaged in serving continuing education at HIT. It is a member of International Association for Continuing Engineering Education (IACEE) and acting as standing director of China Continuing Education Association of Higher Educational Institutions (CCEAHEI).

 

    The school has been active to adapt itself to the development of education, and serves the construction of lifelong education system and Learning-oriented Society, with the guiding ideology of being characteristic, high level and top-ranking. Relying on the qualified teachers, outstanding scientific research ability, extensive influence on the society and modern educational techniques of HIT, the school facing spaceflight and national defense system provides multi-level and high qualified continuing educational programs for senior professionals and managers of all ranks of institutions and enterprises.

    We offer approximately one hundred training programs which have attracted people’s attention and received their recognition. By 2006, over ten thousand students have been trained at the school.

 

    School of Distance Education, Harbin Institute of Technology, was founded in September, 2000. Under the approval by Ministry of Education, our university has been recruiting students on modern distance education since August, 2001. It is the only school by applying distance ways to formal schooling education and informal schooling education at HIT.

 

    The modern distance education system at HIT is based on the advanced network technology and multimedia technology to accomplish the teaching model of one-point to multi-of points. Students can study freely through network without the restriction of time and place. Relying on the rich teaching resources, entire subject system, advanced teaching facilities and developed communication and network tools, HIT’s educational advantage can be transmitted to every part of China. Besides sharing Harbin Institute of Technology’s rich resources, School of International Co-Education has 3 laboratory computer rooms, 3 audio-visual classrooms, and 17 multimedia classrooms. The School’s network is connected to the Internet via 1000Mbps FDDI of CER net, CNC net and China net, which makes it qualified for distance teaching and video conference.

 

    Through the authorization by Ministry of Education, our school can decide the recruiting majors and scales independently. The recruiting subjects are working staffs in society, including three levels of senior-middle school to undergraduate, senior-middle school to academy and academy to undergraduate. At present, our school has established 13 professions such as engineering, management, law, literature, construction and economy. We have built 40 learning centers outside campus within China, with 12000 students at school and 5000 graduated students. The students brought up by our school have won wide recognition in the society.
