November 11, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) announced the 2014 IEEE Fellows. Professor GAO Huijun of the HIT School of Astronautics was elected because of his outstanding contributions to the field of Network Control Systems. He is the first IEEE Fellow from HIT.
The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers is the world’s most famous and largest international academic organization in the field of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Technology Research, with more than 160 countries and regions and around 400,000 members. It is the leading source of innovation in electronic, electrical, computer and information, biomedicine, intelligent transportation systems and space.
An IEEE Fellow is the highest honor granted to members of the IEEE. The selection process is very rigorous. Each time the elected fellows can not exceed one-thousandth of the total number. Professor GAO’s contributions over the years in the Network Control Systems and its industrial application have been recognized by the international academic community. Professor GAO’s election as an IEEE Fellow improves the international academic reputation of HIT in the area of control and industrial electronics.
Professor GAO is a Distinguished Professor of Yangtze River Scholar, Ministry of Education of China. He won the China Youth Science and Technology Prize, the IEEE IES J. David Irwin Early Career Award, the Tan Kah Kee Young Scientist Award, the National Youth 54 Medal and many other awards. At present, he is an IEEE Control Systems Society Industrial Electronics Society Administrative Committee Member (AdCom Member), and the editor of Automatica.
