The Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) hosted the 2025 International Conference on the Cooperation and Integration of Industry, Education, Research and Application (Heilongjiang, Jilin, Liaoning Provinces and the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region) in Harbin, Northeast China’s Heilongjiang province on Sept 5. Nearly 400 experts, scholars, and business leaders from 17 countries, including China, Russia, and Belarus, joined the event.
The conference featured 36 sub-forums across regional universities, covering fields such as new materials, artificial intelligence, information technology, and marine engineering.
At the opening ceremony, HIT unveiled the Training Base for Aerospace Technology and Space Science of China-SCO Innovation Center on Doctorate Education. In addition, Eurasian scholarships for international students, eight international cooperation platforms, and 16 joint projects between Chinese and foreign universities were launched.
Distinguished speakers included fellows of the Singapore Academy of Engineering, the Kazakhstan National Academy of Sciences, and the Russian Academy of Sciences, along with leading Chinese scholars and industry leaders. They emphasized the importance of deeper global collaboration in education, research, and innovation to accelerate the integration of science and industry and to cultivate new drivers of productivity.
Officials from China’s Ministry of Education, Heilongjiang, Jilin, Liaoning, and Inner Mongolia highlighted the conference’s role in promoting international cooperation, advancing technology transfer, and fostering high-level talent. They pledged to support innovation-driven revitalization in Northeast China through stronger partnerships between universities, research institutes, and enterprises.
Wu Yan, vice-minister of the Ministry of Education, said China attaches great importance to global cooperation. He noted that the country is advancing regional university-based technology transfer centers and is committed to building high-quality cooperation platforms to enhance innovation, global welfare, and collaborative solutions to common challenges.
Zhang Qixiang, vice-governor of Heilongjiang province, called the conference a concrete step in implementing national strategies that integrate education, science, and talent development. He pledged strong provincial support to universities, research institutes, and enterprises, aiming to foster a first-class innovation and business environment and maximize the value of collaborative achievements.
Chen Jie, Chair of the HIT Council, said the conference has served as a model for cooperation since its launch seven years ago. He emphasized HIT’s efforts to strengthen organized research and promote the transformation of cutting-edge achievements into real-world applications, expressing the university’s readiness to deepen partnerships in research, talent cultivation, and innovation for regional revitalization and global development.
