Jointly organized by HIT and Tongji University, the competition fosters a national collaborative network for innovation practice among universities, connecting the engineering education chain with industry needs and forming a virtuous system of industry-education integration. It is one of China’s largest and most influential discipline competitions in the municipal environment field.
This year's competition, launched in June, was themed Smart Future Cities: AI Empowering Green Innovation in Municipal Environments. It introduced industrial and international tracks for the first time, focusing on the national dual carbon goals (which state that China aims to peak carbon emissions by 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2060) and the forefront of the smart water management industry, promoting the deep integration of AI with municipal environments.
A total of 2,511 undergraduates, 183 postgraduates, and several international teams from 140 universities across the country registered to participate, with 72 teams advancing to the national finals.
