The inaugural launch event of the journal Advanced Materials Joining and the first International Youth Symposium on Advanced Materials Joining were held at the Zhengzhou Research Institute of Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) from Oct 18 to 19.
Before the event, An Wei, member of the Standing Committee of the Henan Provincial Party Committee and secretary of the Zhengzhou Municipal Party Committee, met with academicians and experts attending the conference.
HIT Vice-president Liu Jian, editor-in-chief of the journal and HIT Academician Zhou Yu, and Li Xian, Publishing director of Springer Nature Group China, delivered speeches. They, along with Zhuang Jianqiu, Deputy secretary of the Zhengzhou Municipal Party Committee and Mayor, and experts and scholars from fields such as materials and aerospace, launched the conference.
Liu Jian emphasized that the launch of Advanced Materials Joining (English) is an important initiative by HIT to contribute to global academic development.

Academicians and experts at the conference expressed that Advanced Materials Joining (English) holds significant importance for the development of the advanced materials joining field. They invited outstanding global experts and scholars to join the journal, aiming to build a vibrant and internationally influential academic community.
The journal's executive editor, Professor Lin Sanbao from HIT, introduced the journal. The meeting was chaired by Professor Lin Tiesong, executive director of the National Key Laboratory of Precision Welding and Joining of Materials and Structures.

Certificates of appointment were awarded to the journal's editors-in-chief, associate editors, editorial board members, and advisory committee members.
Advanced Materials Joining (English) is hosted by HIT and co-published with Springer Nature Group. It was selected for the High Starting Point New Journals of Excellence Action Plan for China’s STM Journals Phase II in 2024. The journal focuses on cutting-edge and key core technologies such as interface science of welding and joining, intelligent welding, and additive manufacturing, aiming to provide academic support for fields such as aerospace and to build a top international academic platform.
After the event, the journal's editorial board meeting and the first International Youth Symposium on Advanced Materials Joining were held. Experts and scholars from Germany, Singapore, and Hong Kong, along with Professor Tian Yanhong from HIT, delivered reports, and five young scholars were also invited to deliver reports.
