On October 21, the Erlingyi Forum at Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) hosted Duan Yinkai, a national inheritor of the Bai ethnic tie-dye craft, and Li Rongli, an ambassador for the promotion of China's textile intangible cultural heritage. They shared their expertise in tie-dye with HIT students.
The event featured a hands-on tie-dye workshop and a thematic lecture. During the workshop, Ms. Duan meticulously explained each step of the process and guided students in creating their own unique pieces, allowing them to appreciate the charm of this traditional craft.
In the lecture, Ms. Li delved into the history, craftsmanship, and modern-day artistic significance of tie-dye, encouraging students to help preserve this valuable cultural heritage. Students actively participated in the Q&A session, sharing their reflections and takeaways.
