Academician Chen Jie, Party secretary of Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) and class advisor of the first Autonomous Intelligent Systems Class, expressed his encouragement to students at their inaugural meeting on Sept 25.
Shen Yi, HIT vice-president, and Wu Ligang, principal assistant and executive class advisor of the Autonomous Intelligent Systems Class, attended the meeting.

Wang Jingshu, secretary of the class's Youth League Branch, reported on the students' academic and daily life experiences since their enrollment.
Students engaged in a discussion with Chen about their studies, career planning, and future development. Drawing from his research background and personal experience, Chen encouraged students to align their growth with national strategic needs and the frontiers of technological innovation, and to cultivate abilities that allow them to excel in their fields.

Chen shared four hopes for students: to set lofty ambitions and strive for excellence, to pursue genuine knowledge and uphold a spirit of scientific inquiry, to value their time and aim for well-rounded development, and to remain true to their original aspirations with confidence and perseverance. He added that HIT would continue to offer stronger support, improved conditions, and greater resources for students.

The nation's first Autonomous Intelligent Systems Class, with Chen serving as class advisor, is supported by national key laboratories, basic and frontier science centers, and the National Innovation Platform for AI Industry-Education Integration. Drawing on HIT’s expertise in control science, computer science, and aeronautics and astronautics, the program adopts a training model that aligns with national strategic needs and scientific frontiers. It is dedicated to cultivating leading talents with international perspectives and innovative capabilities in the field of autonomous intelligent systems.
