Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) hosted a "Three-Body Day" outreach program at HIT's Red Coast Base satellite ground station on Nov 1, organized by the Lilac Micro-Nano Satellite Team at HIT, the Tsinghua University Student Amateur Radio Association, and the Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications BY1BY Amateur Radio Collective Station.
Participants visited HIT's Red Coast Base, attended demonstrations and talks on satellite signal reception, and took part in a radio astronomy salon. They also conducted science outreach, exchanging creative ideas concerning the science fiction novel The Three-Body Problem.
The Red Coast Base is a satellite ground station with the largest aperture and most comprehensive frequency bands among domestic universities. It can be used to receive data from low-Earth and deep-space satellites, conduct radio astronomical observations, test radio communication technology, and support related science popularization activities.
