The Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) and Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC) held a signing ceremony on Nov 25 for a cooperation agreement to jointly establish the School of Aerospace.
Before the signing, Xu Qin, secretary of the CPC Heilongjiang Provincial Committee, met with He Dongfeng, chairman of COMAC, and his delegation for in-depth discussions. These discussions focused on strengthening integration between central and local entities, as well as between universities and enterprises, to advance coordinated development in education, technology, and talent, and to promote high-quality growth in the aviation industry.
Leaders from HIT, COMAC, and Heilongjiang provincial government departments attended the event.

At the signing ceremony, He Dongfeng noted that COMAC and HIT share a long-standing history of cooperation and a strong friendship. HIT has consistently supported aviation industry development, by providing wisdom and strength in areas such as fundamental research, scientific research breakthroughs and talent cultivation. He expressed hope that this agreement would mark a new milestone, further deepening cooperation in talent cultivation and exploring innovative university-industry cooperation models. The partnership aimed to set a benchmark for integrating industry, academia, and research, accelerating the transformation and upgrading of the aviation sector, and supporting the nation's goal of building a strong aviation industry.

Chair of the HIT Council Chen Jie and President Han Jiecai stated in their speeches that the joint establishment of the School of Aerospace by COMAC and HIT would achieve complementary advantages and foster a strong alliance. Looking to the future, both parties would adhere to national strategic needs as their fundamental guideline and core mission, with a primary focus on cultivating innovative talent. They planned to innovate cooperation systems, strengthen forward-looking planning, and optimize educational models to build a new paradigm of coordinated development and establish a new benchmark for aerospace talent.
