The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, along with the General Administration of Sport of China, announced commendations for national exemplary collectives and individuals in the sports sector. Fan Kexin, a teacher from the Sports Department at Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT), was awarded the title of "Exemplary Individual in the National Sports System".
Fan Kexin, born in September 1993 in Boli county, Qitaihe city, Heilongjiang province, is a Chinese short track speed skater, Olympic champion, and Grand Slam winner in short track speed skating. She began skating at the age of nine, joined the national team and won the 500-meter title at the Short Track Speed Skating World Championships at age 17. Fan has represented China in the Winter Olympic Games three times, earning one gold, one silver, and one bronze medal. With her teammates, she also won the women's 3,000-meter relay title at the Harbin Asian Winter Games. Fan has received numerous honors, including "National March 8th Red-Banner Pacesetter", "National Youth Expert", "Heilongjiang Provincial Model Worker", and the "Heilongjiang Provincial May 1 Labor Medal". In March 2025, she was appointed associate professor in the Sports Department of HIT, where she took part in HIT's "Champions are Here" events and engaged in face-to-face discussions with faculty and students.
