Datuk Ng Yih Pyng, president of the Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (ACCCIM), led a delegation to Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) on May 17. Liu Ting, vice-president of HIT, met with the delegation, and the two parties signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU).

Liu said that ACCCIM's extensive business network and HIT's strengths in applied research create strong potential for collaboration between the two parties. He expressed hope that the agreement would open new opportunities for cooperation in areas such as aerospace, smart manufacturing, artificial intelligence (AI), and advanced materials, while helping bring HIT research and technological innovations to Malaysia and other ASEAN markets. He added that the partnership could further strengthen academic, industrial, and business ties between China and Malaysia.
Datuk Ng said that HIT possesses strong expertise in advanced fields including aerospace engineering, robotics, and AI, along with an impressive track record of translating research into real-world applications. He expressed hope that ACCCIM and HIT would establish a long-term partnership focused on Industry 4.0 transformation, industrial digitalization, and green economic development. He also proposed building an integrated collaboration framework linking research, industry, practical applications, and professional training, while expanding cooperation in areas such as AI systems, smart manufacturing, and education.

Under the MoU, the two institutes will establish regular communication channels between the business communities of China and Malaysia, promote the sharing of trade and investment information, support business exchanges and delegation visits, and explore collaborative projects across multiple sectors, with the goal of strengthening economic and trade ties between the two countries.
During the visit, Datuk Ng and his delegation toured the HIT Museum and the HIT Space Museum.
