The international scholarly journal Electron, published by Harbin Institute of Technology(HIT) in partnership with Wiley, has been granted a Chinese serial publication number (CN 23-1630/TB) by the National Press and Publication Administration (NPPA).
Electron is the third English-language scientific journal published by HIT to receive a CN number, following Environmental Science and Ecotechnology and SmartBot.

Founded in 2023, Electron is led by Han Jiecai, president of HIT and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, as editor-in-chief. The team of deputy editors includes CAE Academicians Huang Wei, Yu Shuhong, and Gu Ning, and the editorial board comprises more than 90 distinguished scholars and experts, including 35 members of national academies from China and abroad, with international scholars accounting for 63 percent.
In response to the opportunities and challenges associated with China's carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals, the journal focuses on the electronic properties and behavior of emerging materials, aiming to become a leading international journal in the field of low-carbon advanced materials. The journal was selected for the High-Starting-Point New Journal program under the 2023 Excellence Action Plan of China STM Journals, is indexed in ESCI, Web of Science, CAS, Scopus, DOAJ, CSCD, and other major databases, and is expected to receive its first Impact Factor in June this year.

The NPPA issues CN numbers to periodicals officially registered for public distribution in China. Receiving this designation provides an important foundation for the journal's continued growth and development.
The journal will maintain the highest editorial standards, continue to provide a leading forum for scholarly exchange, support the translation of major research breakthroughs into real-world applications, and contribute to strengthening China's international standing and basic research capacity in the field of low-carbon materials.
