Students from Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) traveled to Cambridge, UK, to participate in the "HIT-Cambridge-Oxford Cup" International Rowing Invitational from July 16 to 19, along with students from the University of Cambridge and the University of Oxford.
The HIT-Cambridge-Oxford Cup International Rowing Invitational kicked off on July 18. Before the competition, the HIT students visited the Downing College Boathouse at the University of Cambridge, warmed up in the indoor rowing tank, familiarized themselves with English rowing commands, and conducted joint training with Cambridge students.
After training, the team participated in the first 8×300-meter rowing machine relay at the Cambridge 99 Rowing Club and met with coaches and coxswains from the UK. Na Boshi, captain of the HIT team and a 2025 master's student at the School of Energy Science and Engineering, was competing at the University of Cambridge for the second time.
This was the second visit by HIT faculty and students to the University of Cambridge this summer. On June 20, the 30th Cambridge Dragon Boat Festival was held along the River Cam in Cambridge. A 25-member delegation from HIT participated and emerged as champions from among 14 competing teams.
Outside the competition venue, the HIT delegation set up a cultural promotion booth, showcasing the university's cutting-edge technological strengths and excellent traditional Chinese culture to thousands of attendees and guests. During the cultural performances at the Dragon Boat Festival, the HIT delegation presented a series of wonderful performances including singing, dancing, and traditional Chinese instrumental music for the live audience.
During the event, the HIT delegation visited and held exchanges with the University of Cambridge, the University of Oxford, and Imperial College London.
