Academician Huang Yudong, vice-president of HIT, delivered an address at the conference. More than 400 leaders, experts, scholars, and other guests attended the forum.
Huang noted that HIT established China's first welding program in 1952, and its materials science and engineering discipline has consistently ranked among the best in China in national discipline evaluations. Over the years, HIT has cultivated a large number of leading talents in the fields of welding, joining, and materials science. He expressed hope that the laboratory will continue its efforts in frontier areas such as intelligent welding and joining in extreme environments, contribute further to major national engineering projects, and accelerate its drive for self-reliance in science and technology.

The event featured one main forum and eight sub-forums. At the main forum, several academicians and professors delivered keynote reports on cutting-edge areas such as brazing technology systems, thermal protection ceramic materials, and AI-based materials design. The eight sub-forums conducted themed discussions on topics including AI-based materials design, advanced composite materials, and surface modification and coating. The conference featured nearly 200 reports and sub-forum presentations in total.
