Wu Lei, Party secretary and chairman of Shanghai Electric Group, led a delegation to Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) to advance cooperation on Aug 18. The university and the enterprise signed an agreement to jointly build a school in the energy sector.

Wu gave a briefing on Shanghai Electric's recent development and characteristics. He expressed hope that both sides would carry out in-depth cooperation in technological innovation in the energy sector, the integration of industry and education, talent cultivation, and the commercialization of scientific and technological achievements, supporting national energy security and the implementation of the dual carbon strategy.

Han stated that the two sides had established multiple practical cooperation projects, laying a solid foundation for collaboration. He expressed hope that both sides would continue to broaden areas of cooperation, deepen university-enterprise synergy, smooth the process from basic research to industrial application to better serve the R&D of major national equipment, and jointly contribute to the development of China’s manufacturing industry.

Qiu Jiayou, vice-president of Shanghai Electric, and Liu Ting, vice-president of HIT, signed the agreement on behalf of both parties. According to the agreement, both sides will carry out in-depth cooperation with a focus on cultivating mission-driven talents to serve the national energy security strategy, providing strategic support for the development of a new national energy system and the achievement of the dual carbon goals.
