The 15th China Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition Unmanned Equipment (Inland River & Low-Altitude) Professional Competition, together with the first National Universities-High-tech Zones Dragon Boat Invitational on the Beijing-Hangzhou Canal, was held at the Yangzhou High-tech Zone in Jiangsu province.
The event was jointly launched by the Torch High Technology Industry Development Center of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT).
It featured two main sections: a professional competition in the unmanned equipment field and a dragon boat invitational for universities. The competition design was innovative, bringing together the Olympic torch and the science-and-innovation torch for the first time, and using the Beijing-Hangzhou Canal as a real-world testing ground for inland river and low-altitude unmanned equipment, as well as the dragon boat racecourse.
The Unmanned Equipment (Inland River & Low-Altitude) Professional Competition was held from Sept 18 to 20. The competition attracted 52 teams from across China, covering the full spectrum of underwater robots, low-altitude drones, and water emergency monitoring equipment.
The competition awarded one first prize, two second prizes, and three third prizes. The project "Air-Ground Cross-Domain Inspection Robot System for Rail Tunnel Inspection" by Zhu Yimin, a faculty member of the School of Astronautics led by Professor Zhang Lixian, together with doctoral students Liu Xiaorui and Cao Mingye, won the second prize in the professional competition.
