The 2011 Euro-Asia Economic Forum was held in Xi’an from Sept. 23rd to 24th. On the invitation, President Assistant XU Dianguo with two colleagues attended the Educational Cooperation Meeting of the forum.
The 2011Euro-Asia Economic Forum kicked off On Sept. 23rd in the ancient city Xi’an. Li Changchun, member of Standing Committee of Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a keynote speech entitled “Jointly Creating a New Era of Cooperation between Europe and Asia”. The Europe-Asia Economic Forum, initiated by the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), is an open platform for economic dialogue between Europe and Asia. The 2011 Forum lasted for two days under the theme of “Innovating Euro-Asia Cooperation, Sharing Transformation Opportunity”, during which a series of activities were held, like SCO Chinese and Foreign College Principal Seminar, Symposium on “Private Education & Talent Cultivation and Employment”, etc.
In the afternoon of Sept. 23rd, HIT delegates were invited to attend the opening ceremony of Educational Cooperation Meeting of the 2011 Euro-Asia Economic Forum. To discuss the big issue of educational corporation and development, together came, Tereshchenko, the co-initiator of Asia Education Forum and former Prime Minister Kazakhstan, Bista, co-initiator of Asia Education Forum and former Prime Minister of Nepal, Реморенко, Vice Minister of Ministry of Education of Russia, ZHANG Xinsheng, former Vice Minister of Ministry of Education of China and President of China Education Association for International Exchange, the official Imandossov from Economic Department of Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Deputy Inspector YU Jihai of Chinese Ministry of Education International Exchange and Cooperation, as well as nearly 200 people from more than 20 countries who care about education development, including education officials, experts and scholars, administrators of universities and colleges, consulate officials, representatives of international organizations, and business representatives. The meeting proposes that that it is of necessity to strengthen the training for the World Talent in Asia. Therefore, SCO Chinese and Foreign College Principal Seminar was held with the participation of more than 50 presidents from Chinese and foreign universities, to discuss how to strengthen the innovational internationalization of higher education for Asian talents. In the interactive link for college and university representatives of SCO university project, HIT delegates and delegates of other SCO universities discussed some substantial issues in depth and eventually reached many consensus on such issues as bilateral agreements, scheme for postgraduate students’ training, exchange students programs and places, the SCO university teaching language and the grouping teaching, working mechanisms of Chinese and foreign institutions.
The corporation foundation between HIT and universities of SCO project was further consolidated in the meeting. As the possibilities of cooperation projects among the universities were discussed as well, the meeting also played a positive role in promoting the smooth implementation of SCO universities cooperation projects.
