Library

Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) Library was built in 1920. At present, it has two independent library buildings and one branch library dedicated to architecture, with a total area of 43,000 square meters. By 2020, the library owns abundant academic collections and literary resources,which includes 3.2 million copies of traditional books and 1.72 million copies of e-books, together with 136 well-known large-scale comprehensive databases (12 for Abstracts, 46 for foreign full texts, 5 for Chinese e-books, 20 for foreign e-books, 13 for multimedia resources, 18 for free e-resources as well as 18 Chinese databases, 2 Discovery Systems, 2 retrieval systems and analysis tools) .HIT library is serving as one digital library base of CALIS (China Academic Library & Information System), and the document & information center committed to the university libraries in Heilongjiang Province. Meanwhile, the library is one of the first 23 university libraries in China that established intellectual property service centers approved by Ministry of Education.

HIT Library has administrative office, business office, technology department, resource construction department, information consulting department, reader service department, resource sharing center, reading promotion department, intellectual property service center and a branch library dedicated to architecture. The library always adheres to the HIT spirit, which is "strict criterions, solid skills”, and is making steady progress to become a world-class university library featuring modernization, research-orientation and civilization.
