On Sept. 30th, accompanied by the HIT delegation，President WANG Shuguo attended the first SATURN—the Science and Technology Universities Research Network Conference held in Singapore.
The members of SATURN are famous universities in the Asian-Pacific region, including Tsinghua University, Harbin Institute of Technology, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, National Taiwan University, Tohoku University, Tokyo Institute of Technology, Israel Institute of Technology, Nanyang Technological University, and Indian Institute of Technology, and so on. The establishment project was passed on the conference. The members of SATURN promised to enhance the overall level and strength of the science and technology universities in Asian-Pacific through cooperation and communications, and to cultivate essential talents, so that they could lead the future development of the Asian-Pacific region, as well as share their developing experience and resources to promote their common development. It is also decided that the second conference of SATURN would be held in Sidney in 2012. In the conference, President WANG Shuguo introduced the management of HIT and experience on cooperation between university and enterprises.
On Sept. 28th and 29th, accompanied by the HIT delegation, President WANG Shuguo paid a visit to the National University of Singapore and Nanyang Technology University to discuss the related issues about cooperation between the universities. On the evening of Sept. 28th, meeting with more than 100 schoolfellows in the National University of Singapore, President WANG Shuguo gave them an excellent speech which won a lot of compliment and applause.
