On the morning of 19th Oct, the ceremony conferring Thomas Anthony Lipo of University of Wisconsin as HIT's Chief International Academic Advisor and Honorary professor was held in Room 503 of the Administration Building. President WANG Shuguo presented him the letter of appointment.
President WANG at first showed his welcome to Professor Lipo, extended the will of deeper academic exchange on his new research findings, and hoped that his rich researching experience could help enlarge the academic vision of HIT faculty and students.
Professor Lipo expressed that he was very glad and honorable to be conferred as HIT's Chief International Academic Advisor and Honorary Professor, and willing to take this opportunity to establish the long-term cooperation relationship with researchers in HIT in order to contribute his share to the development of HIT.
SUN Xue, Secretary of the Party committee from School of Electrical Engineering and Automation, announced Professor Lipo’s resume. Faculty from School of Electrical Engineering and Automation attended this ceremony.
As an electrical engineering professor in University of Wisconsin, Madison and an academician of American Academy of Engineering, T.A. Lipo is internationally recognized as the academic authority and pioneer in electric motors and power electronics. He is also the founder and leader of the famous research institute WEMPEC. Concerning academic research, he has written several influential books in electrical engineering, published 204 articles in IEEE magazines with SCI retrieval, and 233 IEEE conference articles. Besides, he is the Life Fellow of IEEE occupying important positions in main IEEE academies and several international academic organizations.
