November 7 to 12, Assistant President XU Xiaofei led the HIT delegation to South Korea to attend the 2011 International Presidential Forum on Global Research Universities (IPFGRU) at the Millennium Hilton Hotel in Seoul and visit the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), Korea University (KU), Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU), and Sogang University.
November 8, XU delivered a report on Internationalized Talent Education to the more than 120 participants from 44 institutions in 27 countries attending the Forum hosted by KAIST. IPFGRU is the largest annual congregation of university presidents in Asia with leaders from academia, government and industry in attendance. Dr. Robert Birgeneau, Chancellor of the University of California, Berkeley gave the plenary speech. Participants addressed this year’s topic of Borderless and Creative Education.
Vice Presidents YIN Rongxie of KAIST, JIN Xianzhu of SKKU, and JIN Yingxiu of Sogang University received the HIT delegation as they visited relevant labs, met with their department counterparts, explored Korean internationalized education, and promoted additional bilateral academic research conferences, undergraduate exchanges and other initiatives at each of the respective schools. Detailed discussions about advanced Korean education contributed to the warm relations between HIT and the Korean universities.
The delegation also met with HIT exchange students and state-funded overseas postgraduates to assess the quality of their life and studies in Korea.
