November 22, 2011, President WANG Shuguo welcomed to HIT Dr. WANG Yang and his delegation.  Dr. WANG serves as IBM’s Global Executive Vice President and concurrently, China Development Center General Manager

Dr. WANG reviewed IBM’s current status, indicating IBM’s willingness to deepen collaborations with HIT in talent training and scientific research and development. President WANG reviewed with Dr. WANG HIT’s current achievements and hoped, with their mutual effort, to strengthen communication and cooperation.

HIT’s cooperation with IBM dates back to 1995 when IBM’s Tech Center at HIT was established as part of IBM’s Chinese University Partnership Program. The 15-year relationship has born much fruit.  Apr. 14, 2003 the joint HIT-IBM lab was set up at HIT with the goal of collaboration on research and development of new information technologies. April 17-18, 2008, HIT and IBM jointly organized the 2008 International Conference on Service Science in Beijing. Over the years there have been frequent visits back and forth among directors, teachers and students. Dr. WANG’s most recent visit furthered IBM’s collaboration with HIT.

President WANG was joined in the meeting by HIT’s Assistant to the President XU Xiaofei; School of Software Dean MA Peijun and Vice Dean DENG Shengchun; School of Computer Science and Technology Vice Dean LIU Ting; and Honors School Dean LI Haifeng.
