February 24 the 2012 Siemens-HIT Industrial Forum kicked off at Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT). Xu Dianguo, HIT Assistant to the President and Dr. Marc Wucherer, Executive Vice President of Siemens Ltd. China and concurrently Chief Inspector of Siemens’ Northeast Asia Industry Sector co-presided over the forum.
The 2012 Siemens-HIT Industrial Forum is hosted by HIT and Siemens Ltd. China, jointly organized by HIT’s School of Electrical Engineering and Automation. Deputy Deans, ZHU Chunbo and LIU Guodong, were among those attending the forum. Experts and HIT faculty and students discussed issues including power electronics and power drive, power electronics application in power system and electrical machinery and appliance. Meanwhile, they expressed their hope of seeking more areas for collaboration applying advanced technology to industry.
XU and WU introduced the forum and expressed their desires for candid and lively discussion. Four faculty from HIT’s Electric Engineering Department, YU Yong, YANG Ming, WANG Gaolin and YANG Rongfeng, reported on “Study on Speedless-Sensor Direct Torque Control Strategies”, “System Parameter Auto-tuning for AC Servo System”, “Positionless Sensor Vector Control Method of PMSM”, “Voltage Balance Control Technology Applied to Cascading H-Bridge APF / AVG”. Siemens Ltd. China’s Steven, MENG Erping, LI Jiang, FU Qiang and ZHOU Zhensheng presented technical issues related to Siemens’ research and development and offered suggestions of future collaborations with HIT. Afternoon discussions included student training and the Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program.
In June 1997, Siemens established an Automation Training Center at HIT. In October 2008, after this fruitful and mutually beneficial collaboration, Siemens and HIT partnered again to establish the HIT-Siemens Automation and Drive Laboratory a next-generation research collaboration--the first joint Siemens university laboratory in China. The Siemens-HIT Industrial Forum is a program of the Joint Lab. In February 2011, HIT and Siemens signed a broad scientific research framework marking an even deeper level of collaboration.
The Automation and Drive Lab, co-founded by Siemens Ltd. China and HIT, plays an important role in HIT’s teaching and research as well as Siemens’ customer training. The lab has trained more than 1,000 students and participants from HIT and 20 Siemens customers including FAW-VW, Huachen Auto Group, Daqing Petrochemical Complex, and Angang Steel Company Limited. To date, the Lab’s outstanding technology and human resources have conducted numerous engineering projects and scientific research.
