March 5th, Vice President DING Xuemei welcomed Dr. Bayly Warwick, Washington State University’s (WSU) Provost and Executive Vice President, along with his delegation. DING acknowledged the success of the two schools in communication and cooperation to date. She expressed her hope that the two schools would have even closer cooperation among both students and professors in more fields. Dr. Warwick spoke highly of Harbin Institute of Technology’s achievements in engineering. He agreed that the two schools should have broader future substantive cooperation.
After the meeting, DING and Warwick signed Cooperative Two-Plus-Two Doctoral Education Agreement.
Washington State University is a public research university based in Pullman, Washington. Founded in 1890, WSU is the state's original and largest land-grant university. It ranks in the top-ten universities in the US in terms of clean technology, among the nation's top 60 public research universities (“Best Colleges 2010”), and among the top half of national universities at 106th according to U.S. News. The university is well known for its programs in chemical engineering, veterinary medicine, agriculture, animal science, food science, plant science, architecture, neuroscience, criminal justice, and communications, as well as its atmospheric, biological chemistry, shock physics, sleep, and wood materials research laboratories.
