April 12th, Vice President REN Nanqi welcomed Dr. Andrey Babko, Vice President for Foreign Affairs, Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU), and his delegation of four. Both HIT and FEFU are members of the Association of Sino-Russian Technical Universities (ASRTU). Established in 2010, ASRTU is a joint initiative of HIT and Russia’s Bauman Moscow State University to promote collaborations and exchanges among its 31 members which include China’s and Russia’s top engineering universities.

REN hopes that FEFU will participate more extensively in ASRTU activities and serve as a strategic link between HIT and other universities in the Russian Far East. Dr. Babko echoed his appreciation of ASRTU, and his interest in broader exchanges and collaborations between HIT and FEFU.

Dr. Babko shared with REN details of FEFU’s advances in faculty training, teaching, educational facilities, and capacity for innovation since the merger of FEFU and three other universities: Far Eastern National Technical University, Pacific State University of Economics, and Ussuriisk State Pedagogical Institute.

REN and Dr. Babko discussed ASRTU’s 2012 initiatives and the upcoming ASTRU Young Scholars New Energy Conference hosted at FEFU in October. Dr. Babko proposed that FEFU also host an ASRTU President Summit in March of next year.

HIT International Student Center Director GU Jianzheng and HIT School of Foreign Languages Vice Dean LIU Ying also participated in the meeting.
