April 17th to April 26th, Vice President REN Nanqi attended the 21st Century China Higher Education Exhibition in Saudi Arabia and Egypt hosted by the China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE). REN also attended the Sino-Arabic University’s Presidents Forum and Sino-Egyptian University’s Presidents Forum. Representatives of twenty-four Chinese universities, including the Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT), joined the delegation.
April 17th, Vice President REN met with the Chinese Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, LI Chengwen, after the opening ceremony of the International Exhibition and Conference on Higher Education in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. In the evening, REN spoke on the internationalization of Chinese university education at the Sino-Arabic University’s Presidents Forum. He gave a brief introduction to HIT, its philosophy of education and his vision to enhance HIT’s education through increased global cooperation. During the conference, delegates from Chinese and Saudi Arabian institutions of higher education discussed possible future student circulation and exchange.
April 22nd, Vice President REN spoke on how to improve and ensure higher education quality at the Sino-Egyptian University’s Presidents Forum in Cairo. SONG Aiguo, Chinese Ambassador to Egypt, Kasai Mu, Director of Egypt’s National Quality of Education and Social Security Bureau, and ZONG Wa, Deputy Secretary General of the CEAIE, as well as more than 100 representatives of 40 institutions of higher education from both countries attended the forum’s opening ceremony. During the forum, representatives spoke on and discussed topics such as higher education quality, scientific research exchange and talent training.
April 23rd, Vice President REN signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation on behalf of HIT with Suez Canal University (SCU) during the 21st Century China Higher Education Exhibition held at SCU. This is HIT’s first cooperation agreement with an Egyptian university.
