May 24th and 25th, HIT’s Mental Health Education Center held two mental health consultations for university students as part of National University Mental Health Day. Three full-time counselors and five part-time counselors shared advice with students on how to solve problems in study and everyday life.
During the consultations, students sought suggestions from counselors on dealing with issues such as a lack of motivation in study, difficulty in concentrating, ambiguity in career plan and stress from writing papers. Counselors analyzed the specific causes of the problems and recommended solutions for students. Many Students expressed that, from the consultations, they gained a clearer understanding of their problems and learned how to analyze their own mental health and manage stress.
HIT Mental Health Education Center Vice Director and counselor ZHU Yuemei said that these consultations helped enhance student awareness of mental health issues. He also expressed his desire that this activity will make students less reluctant to use mental health counseling in the future.
The mental health consultations play a significant role in HIT’s mental health education and to this year's "Sunshine in May, Sunshine in Your Heart" Mental Health Month.
