May 29th to June 5th, Vice President REN Nanqi visited five universities in Spain and Portugal: Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) of Universidade Técnica de Lisboa (UTL), Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya BarcelonaTech(UPC), Universidad Politécnica de Valencia (UPV), Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM) and Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). This visit aimed to expand HIT's collaboration with universities in the two countries, increase student exchange programs and introduce professors to teach in HIT.
At IST, President Arlindo Oliveira presided over the welcome ceremony. Two universities consented to carry on postgraduate exchanges, with civil engineering, water treatment, chemical engineering and technology and architecture as pilot fields. IST agreed to propose the establishment Sino-Europe joint doctoral school at the 3rd Sino-Europe Engineering Education Workshop held in August, HIT.
During the visit, HIT delegation signed an agreement on exchange programs with UPM. The delegation also visited UPV School of Civil Engineering, School of Architecture and School of Industrial Engineering and signed collaboration agreement with UPV. Collaboration agreement was signed with UAB as well.
The delegation included HIT School of Architecture Party Committee Secretary AN Xuemin, School of Chemical Engineering and Technology Dean HUANG Yudong, Institute of Science and Industrial Technology Vice Dean ZHANG Hongtao, and International Student Center GU Jianzheng.
