From June 21st to July 4th, Vice President ZHOU Yu led an HIT delegation of six to visit University of Manchester, University College London, Imperial College, Polytechnic Institute of Turin and Polytechnic of Milan. They also attended the Forum of New Frontiers of Ceramics for Sustainable Society, which was held in Perugia Italy.
During the visit, ZHOU met with the officials of the colleges mentioned above and conducted a comprehensive discussion in the aspects of short-term exchange programs for undergraduates, dual degree program in the pattern of 3+2/2+2/4+1 for undergraduates, CSC exchange programs for doctoral candidates and young teachers as well as bilateral technological cooperation. On behalf of HIT, ZHOU signed the student exchange agreement with Polytechnic of Milan. He also attended the Second Overseas Academic Base with the theme of Advanced Materials and Surface Engineering Symposium among HIT-UM-DUT held by Centre of Materials Science in University of Manchester. ZHOU also met alumni studying in University of Manchester and Polytechnic Institute of Turin, getting an insight into their situations and feelings concerning all aspects including studying and living. He encouraged them to take care and strive hard for themselves along with HIT, in order to make a better contribution to promoting the communication and cooperation between both colleges.
From June 30th to July 7th, ZHOU attended the Forum 2012, New Frontiers of Ceramics for Sustainable Society, sponsored by the World Academy of Ceramics. ZHOU was elected as the 14th academician and accepted his certificate in the opening ceremony. During the forum, ZHOU made a keynote speech and extended a friendly communication with distinguished scholars and experts in the realm of ceramics across the world. The high-level form drew representatives from USA, Japan, France, Germany, Britain, Italy, Korea, China, India and other else countries totaling 60 and more.
