HIT Delegation Visits European Universities and Attends Ceramics Forum

From June 21st to July 4th, HIT Vice President ZHOU Yu visited University of Manchester, University College London, Imperial College, Polytechnic University of Turin and Polytechnic University of Milan with a delegation of 6 teachers. Moreover, the HIT delegation attended the Forum 2012· New Frontiers of Ceramics for Sustainable Society in Perugia, Italy. 
 
During the visit, Vice President Zhou met with high-class directors from University of Manchester, University College London, Imperial College, Polytechnic University of Turin and Polytechnic University of Milan. Vice President Zhou discussed on undergraduate short-term exchange programs, dual-degree undergraduates' 3+2/2+2/4+1 international cultivating projects, CSC exchange program among bilateral postgraduate students and young teachers, cross-border collaboration in science and technology development, etc. After the discussion, Vice President Zhou signed an agreement student  exchange program on behalf of HIT. Furthermore, he participated in the Second Overseas Academic Seminar held by the Materials Science Center in University Of Manchester. The theme was about latest research on advanced materials as well as surface engineering fields generated by the international academic base, HIT-UM-DUT(Harbin Institute of Technology--University of Manchester--Delft University of Technology). Vice President ZHOU also met with HIT alumni studying in University of Manchester and Polytechnic University of Turin, talked about their daily routine and study conditions, chatted over their comprehensions towards abroad life, exhorted them to take care of themselves and encouraged them to contribute not only to their research but also to the collaborations between HIT and the foreign universities.
 
From 30th June to 3rd July, Vice President Zhou took part in the Forum 2012· New Frontiers of Ceramics for Sustainable Society held by the World Academy of Ceramics. Vice President Zhou was selected as one of the fourteenth periodic academicians in the World Academy of Ceramics and was granted with an authorized certificate. During the forum, Vice President Zhou delivered an academic report and exchanged ideas with scholars in ceramic field. 60 delegates from the United States, Japan, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy, Korea, China, India and many other countries.
 
The HIT delegation included Vice Deans of Undergraduate School SHEN Yi, QI Jingyao, as well as professors from School of Materials Science and Engineering JIA Dechang and OUYANG Jiahu.
