Aug. 29th, HIT President WANG Shuguo, Vice President REN Nanqi and Vice President GUO Bin, warmly welcomed Chiba Institute of Technology(CIT) Chief Director Setokuma and his delegation of three.International Office Director FAN Hongbo, Consultant to Vice President LV Xiaowei and Deputy Director of the International Office ZHENG Mingdong also attended the meeting.
President WANG expressed his welcome to the guests and reviewed years of cooperations between the two institutes, hoping that this friendly relation remains long and prosperous. Chief Director Setokuma valued the 32 years' wide-ranging cooperation and deep friendship of HIT and CIT. He hoped that collaborations and exchanges in more fields between the two universities would be maintained and promoted.
Chiba Institute of Technology (CIT) is a private university in Narashino, Chiba, Japan. The school was founded in 1942 in Machida, Tokyo as Kōa Institute of Technology, which changed its name into “Chiba Institute of Technology”in 1946 and moved to the Kimitu campus. Four years later, it was moved to the present location. The Institute's education system consists of Faculty of Engineering with 6 departments, Faculty of Information and Computer Science with 2 departments, Faculty of social systems science with 3 departments and General Education subjects including Human, Social and Natural Sciences. At present, CIT has 8885 undergraduate students, 515 graduate students and 533 professors and teachers. The institute is particularly outstanding for its information science and future robotics.
Since a relationship was established between HIT and CIT in October, 1980, frequent academic communications and student exchange programs have been promoted. This is Chief Director Setokuma Osamu 's first visit to HIT after he came to power earlier this year.
