The 8th International Symposium on Precision Engineering Measurements and Instrumentation (ISPEMI 2012) was held in Chengdu from 8-11 August 2012. It was presided over by HIT Professor TAN Jiubin. ISPEMI 2012 was sponsored by the International Committee on Measurements and Instrumentation (ICMI), the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), the Chinese Society for Measurement (CSM), the China Instrument Society (CIS). It was organized by HIT and ICMI.
The theme of ISPEMI 2012 is “Quantum metrology, extremity measurement, novel instrument and measurement for precision engineering”. Honorary Chairman, Academician JIANG Wenhan (Institute of Optics and Electronics (IOE), Chinese Academy of Sciences), Academician GAO Jie (Sichuan University), Prof. Ahmed Abou-zeid (Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB), Germany), and Co-Chairman Prof. Tony Wilson, University of Oxford, U.K. attended the symposium. Over 240 delegates from 13 countries and regions including Germany, United States, Britain, Japan, and Russia were also present at the symposium. Seven internationally distinguished experts and scholars gave lectures in plenary sessions at the symposium. Many hot topic issues on the frontier of instrumentation and measurement, like Instrumentation Theory and Methodology, Novel Instrument and Measurement Systems, Ultra-precision Sensor Technology, Measurement for Advanced Optics Machining, MEMS and Nanometer Measurement, Biomedical Optics and Instrumentation, Laser Measurement Techniques and Instruments, Optoelectronic System and Optical Instruments Design were studied and discussed at the symposium.
The symposium included 16 sessions with 26 invited keynote speeches and 91 Oral Presentations, and 131 Poster Presentations. Prof. CUI Jiwen, Associate Professor LIU Jian and HU Pengcheng from the HIT Center of Ultra-Precision Optoelectronic Instrument Engineering (CUOIE) were among those who were invited to give keynote speeches at the symposium.
