September 27th, the Chinese delegation of ‘ASRTU Railway Plan 2012’, which was sponsored by HIT and Bauman Moscow State Technical University (BMSTU), was formally established. The tour delegation of ‘ASRTU Railway Plan 2012’ consists of fifty-three teachers and students from fourteen Chinese ASRTU universities including Harbin Institute of Technology, Xi'an Jiaotong University and Beijing Institute of Technology. Assistant to the President of HIT XU Dianguo was the head of the delegation. GU Jianzheng, Director of both China's permanent secretariat of ASRTU and HIT International Student Center also participated.

‘ASRTU Railway Plan 2012’ aims at carrying forward the ASRTU concept under the Sino-Russian cultural cooperation framework, promoting the development of scientific, educational and cultural exchanges between Sino-Russian universities and promoting the achievements in the development of higher education in China.

From September 27th to 29th, the tour delegation had final rehearsals at HIT before leaving for Russia. During these three days, room 104 and room 204 in the Activity Center were crowded. Team members expressed their joy at participating in the delegation. At times it felt like walking into a colorful musical instrument store. In the rehearsals, every student did their best. The show was wonderful including Peking opera, singing, dancing and folk music. WANG Yiwen (Southeast University) proudly said ‘Everyone wants to show the elegance of Chinese college students to Russian people through this activity. We also hope to further deepen mutual understanding and friendly feelings between the Chinese and Russian youth, and promote the friendship from generation to generation of the people of China and Russia.’

The delegation flew to Yekaterinburg on the morning of September 30th. Over the next fourteen days in Russia the Chinese students carried out scientific, educational and cultural activities, including being the climax in the open day activities of ASRTU members. Chinese student delegation had a 4-station train tour in Russia of Yekaterinburg, Samara, Moscow and St. Petersburg. Ten Russian universities, including Ural Federal University, Samara State Aerospace University and Bauman Moscow State Technical University, were visited in these cities. The activities included ‘Night of ASRTU’, Sino-Russian Youth Student Arts Festival, the first ASRTU Youth Student Innovation Forum, Open Days of ASRTU member universities and the ASRTU Train mobile classroom.
