November 9, HIT Vice President REN Nanqi and Assistant President XU Dianguo, accompanied by staff in International Office and International Student Center, visited the School of Architecture to discuss the school’s international cooperation with other universities. This visit was part of encouraging the schools of HIT to build a global vision.

The School of Architecture’s Dean MEI Hongyuan chaired the seminar. The school’s Vice Dean LENG Hong reviewed with attendees the links the School of Architecture has established with world class universities. The other issues she spoke about included the management of international students, teaching courses in English, the school’s future goals and suggestions for the School of Architecture and HIT’s internationalization.

Both Vice President REN and Assistant President XU delivered speeches at the seminar, praising the efforts the School of Architecture has made. Every member of the School of Architecture has benefited from the international cooperation and the programs it has developed and implemented. Recently, this has occurred through cooperation with other universities, through strengthening and expanding relationships with European universities, including Russia, improving the courses taught in English in order to attract more international students to HIT and seeking to be a model for other HIT schools in this regard.

Since 2010, the School of Architecture has established links with over 30 world renowned universities and education institutions of architecture including in the U.S., Canada, UK, France, Germany and Italy. The School of Architecture has signed cooperative agreements with 13 foreign universities including MIT’s Department of Architecture, established a foreign academic base with the University of Sheffield, UK and held more than 10 international academic symposiums. It has also established a research center for sustainable urban expansion with the University of California, Berkeley.
