At 11:10 on the 1st of March, on entering the Tianxiang Dining Room on 2nd Campus, the journalist noticed crowds of students lining up in front of the sliced noodle window. Coming closer, he found some students were photographing the noodle-slicing robot while saying “amazing.” Others said “It’s awesome and interesting.” One male student exclaimed, "Look, Ultraman!" An Ultraman-shaped, adult-sized noodle-slicing robot was "shabu shabu" slicing the noodles, attracting many students and teachers to stop and watch and then eat the noodles.
The journalist then went to the dining area, and saw SUN Zengchu, a student of the School of Civil Engineering eating noodles with her classmate. SUN said, "Good taste and flavor. The noodle is thinner than before but similar in length and thickness, which is convenient to eat.” Not far from there, HE Zongfu, a student of the Honors School, was also eating noodles. He said he heard that the dining room had just introduced a noodle-slicing robot and specially came today to eat the noodles made by master “robot” out of curiosity. The noodles had just been served and were grabbed by an equally curious classmate TENG Yue eager to have a few bites. His classmate WANG Mengyu then suddenly said," No wonder so many people eat noodles these days.”
How exactly were such delicious noodles made then? The chef kneaded the dough in advance and made it into 20cm long, 7cm wide and 5 cm high blocks. After he puts them on the robot “hand” and presses the button, the robot begins automatically and rapidly slicing noodles, three times faster than manual slicing. ZHANG Zhendong, dining room supervisor, said, "It is not only new and cute, attracting many teachers and students, but also liberates the labor and improves work efficiency and service quality."
Looking at bowls of steaming hot and appetizing noodles, the journalist couldn’t help but want to try it.
