"Every student is a song, and my dream is to help the students to the interpretation of the Song of Life." LIU Yang, a student advisor from the School of Science said. On April 3rd, the final of the Second Vocational Skills Competition for Students Advisors was held. Holding the Vocational Skills Competition for Student Advisors helps to enhance the professional competence and the professional level, and promote the professionalization of student advisors in HIT.
The competition consisted of two parts, a preliminary round and the final. The preliminary round was held in March. The preliminary round includes a basic knowledge test, microblog writing, student information identification and keynote speech. After the preliminary round, seven student advisors entered the final. The final included a self-introduction and demonstration, case study, scenario simulation and themed class meeting simulation. In the self-introduction and demonstration and the themed class meetings part of the final, China Dream was a common keyword mentioned by the student advisors. Student advisors also connected the 18th National Congress of CPC and China Dream with class building, voluntary service and personal ideals. In the themed class meetings simulation, the student advisors, each leading 5 to 8 students, designed their own themed events.
After three hours of intense competition, student advisor SHAN Jiyang from the School of Municipal and Environmental Engineering won first prize of the competition and will, representing HIT, attend the Provincial Vocational Skills Competition for Students Advisors. Student advisor LIU Yang from the School of Science and student advisor WU Yan from the School of Civil Engineering finished second and third in the competition.
After the competition, the reporter interviewed representatives of participating student advisors and students, listening to them talking about the competition, gaining insight into the competition and the student advisors’ work.
SHAN Jiyang, who won the competition said: “I learned a lot in this competition. Through the competition, I have more profound thinking and knowledge of the student advisors’ work. Therefore, I will demand more of myself.” MENG Xiaohui from the School of Computer Science and Technology is a young student advisor who has worked less than a year. In his view, participating in the competition was equivalent to a free training opportunity.
In addition to the participating student advisors, student advisors who come to watch the competition also gained benefits. JIANG Nan from the School of Mechatronic Engineering thought that every student advisor has his strong points, and the competition provides a showcase for them. HU Tao from the School of Electronic Engineering and Automation said that there was a kind of inner resonance listening to student advisors telling their own stories and he learnt some good experiences and practices from them.
WANG Jinlin is one of the students who came to cheer for the student advisors. He said that it was very exciting to see student advisors compete on the stage. As students and friends, we could only support them. We should also be grateful to student advisors, because they help us students in our daily work so that we can be more active and confident in facing life.
