The 50th HIT University Sports Meeting was held from May 24th to 25th. The athletes spared no effort in competing and achieved outstanding results.

HIT leaders attending the opening ceremony included President WANG Shuguo, Secretary of Party Committee WANG Shuquan, Vice President ZHOU Yu, Vice President ZHANG Hongtao, and Assistant President AN Shi, and they presented awards to the advanced units of “Sunshine Sports” and the top ten athletes. The advanced units of “Sunshine Sports” this year were the School of Management, the School of Municipal and Environmental Engineering, the School of Astronautics, the School of Architecture, the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, the Department of Basic Education, the School of Mechatronic Engineering, the School of Electrical Engineering and Automation, the School of Transportation Science and Technology, the School of Computer Science and Technology and the School of Materials Science and Engineering. The top ten athletes were ZHAO Jian, WANG Shuai, SU Shan, GUO Junzuo, SHAO Chunyu, WANG Hainan, WANG Zhaolei, LUO Quan, SUN Zhipeng and NIE Zichen.

At the opening ceremony, teams paraded past the rostrum with precise marching and loud slogans. Vice President ZHOU delivered the opening speech and hoped that a positive and optimistic sports culture for teachers and students would be developed, that the stadiums will be open throughout the day to meet demand and that the PE teachers would provide guidance and ensure effective operation of the sports facilities. A Tai Chi performance from the Department of Sports marked the beginning of the group gymnastics performances. Tai Chi Fan by the Wushu Association of HIT, Shaolin Boxing by the Health Care Association of HIT and the group dance “Walking towards Rejuvenation” were so exciting that they won enthusiastic applause from the audience.

On the field, competitors in the 100-meter race, the hurdle race, the long jump, the high jump, the javelin throw and the marathon all did their best and demonstrated "beyond self, pursue dreams", the theme of this sports meeting. The fun games, such as running with a ball on the back, basketball skills, slow bike riding, two people coordination race, kangaroo hop relay, push and pull and rope skipping, were also exciting. On the field, the modern dances and aerobics by the cheer squads were fascinating and won enthusiastic applause from the audience. The referees and other staff worked hard and the leaders of HIT came onto the field to meet the teachers and students.

Vice President ZHOU and Vice President ZHANG presented awards to representatives from the winning groups. The top six male and female faculty groups in the Sports Meeting were the Logistics Group, Department of Party Committee School, the Party Committee of the Undergraduate School, the School of Astronautics, the School of Materials Science and Engineering and the School of Electronics and Information Engineering. The top six A student groups were the School of Astronautics, the School of Municipal and Environmental Engineering, the Department of Basic Education, the School of Management, the School of Architecture and the School of Electrical Engineering and Automation. The top six B student groups were the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, the Department of Basic Education, the School of Management, the School of Civil Engineering, the School of Electronics and Information Engineering and the School of Mechatronic Engineering. Sportsmanship awards were presented to the School of Management, the School of Materials Science and Engineering, the School of Astronautics, the School of Civil Engineering, the Department of Basic Education, the School of Transportation Science and Technology, the School of Science, the Honors School, the School of Mechatronic Engineering, the School of Municipal and Environmental Engineering, the School of Computer Science and Technology, the School of Energy Science and Engineering, the School of Foreign Languages, the Department of Party Committee, the Logistics Group and the Industrial Committee.

Vice President ZHANG delivered a closing speech in which he congratulated the athletes who had achieved excellent results and thanked referees, coaches and venue staff for their hard work. He hoped that students and teachers would practice the unity and initiative of sports in daily study and work, and realize their own dreams.

The two-day sports meeting ended with helicopter and rockets performances by the HIT Model Airplane Association.
